What is Echinacea? Echinacea pallida (Prairie coneflower) is a native perennial that grows in only a couple of areas in Wisconsin as we are on the edge of its range. Here in Wisconsin, it tends to grow near roadsides and small open areas. It has large fragrant flowers throughout May and June.
It has been used as a dietary supplement for the common cold and other infections, based on the idea that it might stimulate the immune system to more effectively fight infection.
